I love to read. It's probably my favorite thing in the world to do for down time. One of the things I try to do as a preschool teacher is to pass on the love of reading I have to the students. I spend a great deal of time looking up books for my classroom. Mother Goose Time has made it easy for me to find books that are related to the current theme by having recommendations for each of the four weeks . But I need to have more books to add to my library area because the kids have Library time every Monday. During Library time the children are able to check out 2 books to take home and read with their families. It's pretty fun watching the children pick out books to read at home. But I find that it's very easy to fall into the habit of picking out books that are widely known and not exploring outside of the box. After I noticed that I was sticking to the classics and not picking out new books, I thought about how hard it is to sometimes find books that match classroom themes. If it that hard for me to find books off the beaten path, I wondered how hard it was for parents and teachers. Especially since we need to check out the books before we add it into our collection. This is when I decided to start preschool book club. Reviewing books that can be introduced into your home and classroom and can help build your child's love of reading. Getting new books every Month from Mother Goose Time inspired me to find a way to help encourage reading of new books.
