For my last post for the month of August I am going to talk about the new stuff that has been added into the Mother Goose Time curriculum. Lesson plan books- The lesson plan books this year have been broken up into 4 different books. One for each week. I am going to admit right here and now…this is a pain in my you know what. Mostly because I am a pack rat. I keep anything and everything that there is even a hint of a possibility I might use again. And these books are just asking to become part of my collection of school materials with their pretty pictures and examples. Like, really MGT….you wanna make it even HARDER for me to throw away or recycle (RECYCLE PEOPLE!!!) your books?! Fine. So what if my husband has to force me to throw the stuff I don’t need away by threatening my shoes. I suppose I will survive that change. They also stopped sending out the extra lesson plan books. I find that fantastic. Again, I am a pack rat and it is super not awesome collecting things I will not use. NOT AWESOME!!
The learning objectives chart at the beginning of the book helps if you are like me and set up centers for your classroom. It helps you know which ones to set up and best part is having books laid out in an easy way to identify without having to search through the lesson plan book or the webpage for the list. Steam stations- This is also located at the front of the booklet. STEAM stations are one of those things that you cant wing it. You need to have the materials gathered before the set-up day. Mostly because STEAM stations require more materials that may not be available in your house. Or if you are me, you move around due to the military and you can’t find all of the things you need. The very best thing to happen to this lesson plan book is the adding of the adaptations in the back. The ideas are easy to implement and can work in a small home environment or a large center.
To recap: I am a pack rat There are too many pretty books that I hate to trash/recycle because THE PICTURES!!!! I am loving the new set up and additions I do think that a good idea would be a lesson plan book much like the Happy Planner or Erin Condren Planners. We could get everything in a spiral bound note book with lesson planning pages so I could plan out my day in one book. I WOULD LOVE THAT SO MUCH!!! *Internal excited scream. High pitched, breaking windows* I love it. The End HAPPY TEACHING!! Ms. Tessie I receive Mother Goose Time in return for an honest review. |
